Clifton Park!

These photos are all in Clifton park, it was raining although it doesn't seem it which is good. Most of these photos have been edited but i wanted to keep some that weren't.
I like these photos because of the colours and textures. i like how the band stand looks in the autumn, although when the sky is too bright it is over exposed and blends in with the top of the
bandstand, but their are ways around that happening.

Edited Test Shots For College!

These are my edited test shots so far. I still need to do a few shoots but that can be done by the end of the week. I really like these photos, most of them have a meaning, being in the local park and with my youngest sister. I'm going to try and get some with my youngest brother too. The last photo was taken in Clifton Park.
I like the colours and textures in the coloured photos, i also prefer the black and white ones in black and white because i think it makes the textures of the leaves and the wooded bridge stand out more in a way.

Liverpool!

Saturday 15th October - Digital Splash Photography Show.
Im not going to lie, i found the show itself pretty boring so me and a group of others went for a walk around Liverpool.
Here are a few photos i got from our trip to Liverpool.
dsc_0004
This is a photo of the river just outside the BT Studios. I like this picture because the sun looks almost like a cartoon and i think it gives the photo as a whole a really nice effect. I also like how you can see the sun reflecting on the water. The one thing i dont like about this photo is that the sun and its reflection isnt in the middle or clearly to one side, but apart from that i really like this photo.
dsc_0006
This is a photo of the love locks. These chains full of locks go on all down to the other end of the pier and i think it guves the photo a nice look because well, imagine if the locks weren't there, the photo would look completely different and almost bare. There are lots of lines and shaddows in this photo which is one of the rules of photography. The only thing i would change about this photo is the people in the distant background.dsc_0056
I like this photo because of the depth of field, although i would have preffered the stone ball to be more in focus and the photo as a whole to be straight.
dsc_0072
I really like this photo, i like how it is central and you can see all of the building. I like how the camera fully focused on the top of the building. I don't like how there are lots of people in the front along with the vans, i find it a bit distracting. Other than that, i really like that photo.img_0335
This photo was taken on the way back from Liverpool. We were on snake pass and the sun was just setting and i thought it looked really nice. I like how you can see the reflection on the window really well along with the river in the background.img_4947
This is another photo of the river by snake pass. i like how everything is clear and the effect of the window makes it look like i have put an overlay on it.
The first four photos were taken in Liverpool but the last ones were taken on the way back.  Also, the last two were taken on my phone whereas the first four were taken on a dslr camera.

While i was in Liverpool i also made a youtube video because i never seem to upload click HERE to view the video!

Clifton Park, Photoshopped!

The other week the photography level 2 class went to Clifton Park for an hour to get some photos. Today we put our best photos in Photoshop and made them even better!
This is a photo of the Bandstand in Clifton Park. This was the first photo i wanted to play with in Photoshop.
Before

After

As you can see i removed the family from the back ground and made the whole photo more vibrant. I also got rid of every bit of rubbish on the floor and tried to clean up the steps. Also, i cropped the sides and the top and rotated it slightley to make it straight.

This next photo was a pretty picture in the first place but after Photoshop i didn't like the way it was before.

Before

After

On this photo i cropped the edges and made it into a square and used the rule of thirds to make sure the spider was in the middle. Also i turned the brightness down and increased the vibrance again.

This is the last one that i think turned out well.
Before

After

The very first thing i did to this photo was remove the people in the background. After that i turned the brightness down a tiny bit and turned the vibrance up, i messed around with some other settings too but i dont remember what.

10 Rules of Photography!

In photography there are 10 rules you should obey:
~The Rule of Thirds: Imagine your photo is divided into nine equal segments, split by two horizontal and two diagonal. Try and place your subject (the most important part of your photo) in between these lines. Doing this will make your photo more appealing to others.
~Balancing Elements: Not always keep your subject to the centre, along with the rule of thirds, this brings more interesting features to your photo, but dont leave the space empty, balance the "weight" of your subject by adding another subject that may be less important.
~Leading Lines: When looking at photos our eyes are naturally drawn along lines, the different ways you place lines in your composition you can change the way we see the image.
~Viewpoint: The viewpoint has a HUGE impact on the composition of a photo and can affect the message sent in the photo. Rather that=n shooting from eye level, consider shooting from a higher or lower point of view, or even really far away or really close up.
~Background: The human eye is better at distinguishing between the background and the foreground, whereas a camera cant; this can often ruin a potentially great image. Thankfully it is easy to solve this problem at the time of shooting. Look around for a plain background and compose your shot so that it doesn't detract from the shot.
~Symmetry and Patterns: Symmetry and pattern is all around us, both man-made and natural. They can be quite eye-catching, especially where they are not expected. A great way to use them is to break the symmetry or pattern in some way, may it be by using a different main subject so the pattern or symmetry isn't the main subject.
~Depth: Depth can be created by including objects in your image. Another useful technique is overlapping, when overlapping you deliberately partially obscure one object with another. We will be able to recognise the two layers and mentally separate them, making an image with even more depth.
~Framing: We are surrounded by objects that make perfect natural frames, like trees, holes and archways. by placing these on the edge of your shot you can help to form a natural frame for your main subject, or isolate them from the outside world. As a result, this immediately draws your viewers eyes to the main subject.
~Cropping: Cropping so it is just the subject you will completely remove background "noise", making sure the viewer pays all their attention to the subject.
~Experimentation: EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR PHOTOS! Every time you take a photo always take it a few times but with different settings. Try new filters in photoshop, maybe dont even use photoshop, or even use it a lot! You can never do too much to your photos, well you can, when they start to look bad then you know you have done too much, but thats a good thing because then you know what you did wrong (hopefully) and then you will know for next time when yo r editing another photo. You can never experiment too much!

Random Photos

Here's just a few photos that i  had never uploaded and thought id share with you guys. The first one was taken whilst on the train in wales. I was trying to focus past the windows but all i managed to get was the raindrops on the window but it still makes a really nice photo. The second one was taken a few weeks ago when me and my sister were filming a video and i was trying to get a thumbnail but the video failed. And the last one was taken a week ago, it was in the winter gardens in Sheffield, i was out with everybody from college and we went into the winter gardens and i saw this really pretty flower and decided i must take a photo of it.
Some of you may already know this but i actually have another blog, i had to make one for college and it has everything i am doing in lesson on it, if you want to check that out then feel free just click here and it will take you straight to it. Also i would like to say a big thank you to the people that actually read my blog, especially those who have been here from the very start!

Bright & Blue!

I honestly have no words for this! I think it came out a lot better than i expected, i was just messing around and said, "Lucy, come here and let me take a photo of your eye" So i did and this is how it turned out!

Sunny Day In Derwent!

These photos were taken Sunday 26th June 2016. I think my photography is getting a lot better and i am loving how much my photos have changed this past year! It has been about a year since i realised that i really liked photography and decided to take it up as a hobby! Now my hobby is being taken further! I am starting college in September on a photography course to hopefully boost my photography skills and give me an opportunity to not only post on here more but to make a living out of it!- Anyway, enough of my mouth, here are some photos from Derwent today!

Strange, But Amazing! Right?

So this is the first photo that i had taken on my Canon IXUS 275. It was taken a few weeks ago now i have just been debating on whether to upload it or not because in a way it looks amazing but if you look for a while, it looks a bit strange!

This is actually a photo of the inside of a peep hole on a door! Amazing right? But strange too!

As the Holiday Season is getting closer i am hoping to be posting a bit ( or a lot ) more on here. ALSO i have been posting on my youtube so it would mean a lot if you could check that out - just search " Charlotte Finch "  or find the link, if you go onto my profile it should be on there!

Both of these were taken on the 29th of May 2016. My family and i went for a nice walk on Millhouses park because tge dog needed a walk and it was really nice. Along journey i captured these photos, none of these photos have a filter, the first two taken on the Canon ixus 250, which is in the last photo (taken on my iphone)
The Canon ixus 250 is a simple yet amazing camera and i will link it in my next post!
